Wenzel Alpine  Dome 3-Person Tent Review

Wenzel Alpine 8.5 X 8-Feet Dome Tent with fly

Wenzel Alpine 8.5 X 8-Feet Dome Tent with fly

The Wenzel Alpine three person dome tent is a nice tent for its price range. There are better three person tents available but they will cost nearly three times as much as the Alpine.

Getting the Wenzel Alpine set up and ready to go can be accomplished rather quickly. With only three poles to work with, no wonder it is so easy. In fact, if you’ve ever set up a tent before, you can probably get this one up without even reading the directions. Of course reading the directions first is always advisable. Plus the pole pockets simplify the whole process. Taking the Alpine down is easy as well. One person is all that is needed. The rain fly is pretty small so putting it on is a snap also.

The Wenzel Alpine does pretty good in light rain and maybe some light wind. This tents’ fabric is the typical weather armor with reinforced floor and strong seams and all those good marketing terms that make tents sound like they could withstand a hurricane. The truth is, this tent will withstand light rain just fine, but the rain fly is so small that it does not cover the windows, meaning you can’t open them for good ventilation during the rain. Of course in dry weather, this isn’t a problem at all. I do like the attached floor mat with drainage that helps to keep the inside of the tent clean.

The Wenzel Alpine is touted as eight feet by eight and a half feet, but with its pentagon shape, these dimensions are from the longest points and no single wall actually measures this long. This could cause a problem if trying to sleep a tall person or even three adults. One adult with a couple of children or three children will fit fine. Two adults will fit as long as the adults aren’t both over six feet tall. If you must sleep three adults, I would say that the Wenzel Alpine is not for you unless you are much shorter than average people.

The large D shaped door is a nice touch. The zipper also runs smoothly without snagging, which is uncommon in tents that are this reasonably priced. There is a small loft that is great for placing personal items like wallets or cell phones. The Wenzel Alpine is very light-weight; about eight pounds, making it ideal for biking, hiking, or motorcycle trips. It would also make a good tent for music festivals and the like.

The Wenzel Alpine Dome Tent, while having a few flaws is a great tent for the kids. They will find it simple to set up and carry themselves, also will be able to fit in it without trouble. Order your Wenzel Alpine Dome Tent from Amazon Today while it is discounted and available with free shipping!

Wenzel Ridgeline Size

The Wenzel Ridgeline Three Person dome Tent is one of our favorite small tents. It is big enough to sleep three comfortably, but weighing in at under seven pounds it is light enough to carry with you while hiking, biking, or boating. The light weight allows you to venture further before setting up camp. If you desire a separate tent for the children the Ridgeline is perfect for that. The kids like having their own tent and the adults get some privacy, which can be scarce on camping trips with the family. The Ridgeline while designed for three people is also good for one or two people that just need a little extra space for storage or a pet. It is a dome tent that is just a little over four feet tall so standing will not be an option for most of us. the base measures seven by seven feet, providing forty nine square feet, making for a rather small footprint.

Wenzel Ridgeline Weather

Most modern tents offer pretty good weather protection and the Wenzel Ridgeline is no different. The fabric is coated and the seams are reinforced so leaking should not be an issue. The threads are also made to keep out the water. The rain fly covers the roof vents and works well. The extra strong tub floor keeps out the ground water. The Ridgeline has a low enough profile that wind is unlikely to blow it over. The screened door and window combined with the screened roof provide ample ventilation and airflow.

 Wenzel Ridgeline Set Up

Setting up the Wenzel Ridgeline is a very simple t task. This is another reason this is a good tent for the children. They can set it up themselves. It is basically just two poles. The shock corded fiberglass frame along with the pin and ring system are the main reasons for the easy set up. there is no reason the Ridgeline should take more than ten minutes to erect. It can be done by a single person as well.

Ridgeline  Other Features

The D style door is nice and makes entering the tent a little less of a hassle compared to normal tent doorways. The zippers are strong and don’t break easily. There is a gear loft and some pockets that are great for storage of your camping  accessories. We also like that the rain fly makes a small awning providing a little extra shade. I found the tent east to get back into its storage bag once we took it down.

Coleman SunDome 3-Person Dome Tent Review

Coleman SunDome 7-Foot by 7-Foot 3-Person Dome Tent

Coleman SunDome 7-Foot by 7-Foot 3-Person Dome Tent

The Coleman SunDome 3 person Tent is not a large tent. It measures seven feet by seven feet and sleeps three people comfortably. Not suitable for a large family, but it is a great tent for three, although it will fit a queen sized air mattress. The center height is only a little over four feet so standing is not an option with the Sun Dome. But one benefit of the the size is that it weighs in at just over eight pounds, so carrying it to a distant camping spot will be easy work, unlike some of the thirty and forty pound larger capacity family tents. The light weight makes it a good option for backpacking. It also serves well in letting the children have their own tent.

Set up of the Coleman SunDome 7-Foot by 7-Foot 3-Person Dome Tent (Orange/Gray)is fast and easy and should take no more than ten minutes to complete. It could take a few minutes longer if you are new to tent assembly. Have a practice run in the back yard before you get to the camp ground. Color coded poles and Instaclip attachments, and the domed two pole design make are among the features that aide in a quick set up. Taking the SunDome down is also a very easy task.

The Coleman SunDome 3 person Tent comes with the Coleman WeatherTec System which keeps out all the rain by using water resistant fabric, water proof floors, and zipper protection. The wind strong frame and domed shape help stand up to very strong winds so that you are sure to not be blown away. Except maybe by the ventilation. With a Ground Vent and a Privacy vent window fresh air will find you even inside of the tent.

The Coleman SunDome is a great tent for those that don’t need a lot of indoor space. The size could be restrictive for those who need more space, but if that’s the case you probably wouldn’t be reading a review of a three person tent. The Weather Resistance is top notch. This is a solid tent that is a good deal for any camper. Free shipping is usually available. Click here to check pricing and availability at Amazon.
