 Thermarest Compressible Pillow Review

The Thermarest Compressible Pillow  is quite a wonderful item I have recently added to my camping backpack. For years while sleeping at campsites, I would use rolled up dirty clothes or my backpack as a pillow. These were not good options for several reasons. Comfort being the reason that stands out. A few times I brought pillows from home, but they can be rather bulky and are easily damaged while camping.

Thermarest Comfort

The Thermarest Compressible Pillow solved all my problems while taking up very little space. It rolls up so small, it fits nicely into my backpack. At first I didn’t believe that once it unrolled, it had a chance of retaking a comfortable form again. I was very wrong. Once I unrolled it, it still looked flat but after a minute it had regained its fluffiness and provided the most comfortable camping pillow option I’ve yet to come across. When you roll it up, the attached draw-string secures the pillow and keeps it from unrolling in your backpack or bag. This Thermarest requires no inflation either. Those inflation pillows can be comfy, but they require you to carry around an inflation device, which is why I prefer this pillow.

Compressible Pillow For Travel

The Thermarest Compressible Pillow is a good option for travel as well. Long rides of any sort can be uncomfortable places to try to nap, whether it be car, train, bus, or plane. This pillow can store easily in your carry-on bag or backpack and will let you get your desired rest.

It is also machine washable. I have washed and dried mine several times and it always maintained its comfort.  After storing for long periods of time in the rolled up position, it still comes to full fluffiness within a few minutes.

The Thermarest is available in three different sizes ranging from small to large. There are at least six separate design schemes to choose from as well, including two different cammo patterns, two solid color, and two decorative patterns. I bought one of the polka dotted patterns.

The Compressible Pillow is a great option for campers, hikers, backpackers, and travelers that need a compressible solution for head rest. They make a great gift for the outdoorsman on your shopping list as well. Pick one up from Amazon today! The medium and large sizes are even available with free shipping.

Wenzel Alpine  Dome 3-Person Tent Review

The Wenzel Alpine three person dome tent is a nice tent for its price range. There are better three person tents available but they will cost nearly three times as much as the Alpine.

Getting the Wenzel Alpine set up and ready to go can be accomplished rather quickly. With only three poles to work with, no wonder it is so easy. In fact, if you’ve ever set up a tent before, you can probably get this one up without even reading the directions. Of course reading the directions first is always advisable. Plus the pole pockets simplify the whole process. Taking the Alpine down is easy as well. One person is all that is needed. The rain fly is pretty small so putting it on is a snap also.

The Wenzel Alpine does pretty good in light rain and maybe some light wind. This tents’ fabric is the typical weather armor with reinforced floor and strong seams and all those good marketing terms that make tents sound like they could withstand a hurricane. The truth is, this tent will withstand light rain just fine, but the rain fly is so small that it does not cover the windows, meaning you can’t open them for good ventilation during the rain. Of course in dry weather, this isn’t a problem at all. I do like the attached floor mat with drainage that helps to keep the inside of the tent clean.

The Wenzel Alpine is touted as eight feet by eight and a half feet, but with its pentagon shape, these dimensions are from the longest points and no single wall actually measures this long. This could cause a problem if trying to sleep a tall person or even three adults. One adult with a couple of children or three children will fit fine. Two adults will fit as long as the adults aren’t both over six feet tall. If you must sleep three adults, I would say that the Wenzel Alpine is not for you unless you are much shorter than average people.

The large D shaped door is a nice touch. The zipper also runs smoothly without snagging, which is uncommon in tents that are this reasonably priced. There is a small loft that is great for placing personal items like wallets or cell phones. The Wenzel Alpine is very light-weight; about eight pounds, making it ideal for biking, hiking, or motorcycle trips. It would also make a good tent for music festivals and the like.

The Wenzel Alpine Dome Tent, while having a few flaws is a great tent for the kids. They will find it simple to set up and carry themselves, also will be able to fit in it without trouble.
